Food Labels
Do you know the difference between 'calories' and 'calories from fat?' Take charge of your health by learning about food labels.
Food manufacturers are required by law to provide a nutrition label on every package of food, but do you know how to interpret the meaning behind the label? It can be confusing at first, but with time, reading food labels will become second nature and you will have the upper hand when it comes to your nutrition and overall health. You'll know exactly what you're buying, what you're eating, and it will help you become familiar with certain ingredients that manufacturers use that are not healthy for your body - ingredients such as trans fats and high fructose corn syrup - common ingredients that may be harmful to your body over time.
If you have questions about food labels, ask your doctor to identify the nutrition data that is especially important to your particular health needs, and note down any nutritional restrictions.
